I love Gore Vidal’s writing. I even really like a lot of his ideas. It’s the hatred of conservative thought that gets me. I have all of his books, collected essays and look beyond his bitterness to conservatism to enjoy taking in his complex narrative style of depicting life and history.
He seems so logical about soooo many problems facing society and then he leaps the tracks on anything Republican. As much as he claims to hate the emotional reactionary turn by many Americans, I believe this is his disability also.
Despite this it was revealing for Vidal to swipe at Obama for his actions. Obama’s current war policy are to the extreme of how Bush handled the wars with even less insight or foresight. I agree with Vidal about this. He may be right about the dictatorship concerns, echoing the dire view of Glenn Beck.
Where I disagree strongly is his saying Obama is a smart person. I hear Obama nimbling using words, but I don’t think he really knows what he’s really saying the majority of the time. If he did, you’d think he’s act more on all of this jabbering he does. I think Vidal might have a different opnion if he met Obama and find him lacking in the intellect department.
I have noticed in the past when Vidal starts in this direction of tarring and featering an individual it’s not long before he’s labeling the swipee as a rotten conservative out to destroy the world. That would be quite a comment as was his statement in the headline.
I’ve been listening to some of the ACORN testimony shown live from the Fox News website. Who knows who they gave money to? I certainly don’t think they do.

Obama sez “…we will stay in Afghanistan as long as it takes to finish our job.” So, even if Obama doesn’t provide our troops with what they need or who they need , Obama is going to blather self righteousness. First, Obama needs to HIS job.

I’m trying to take in Ken Burns’ new National Park series. The 1 hour I’ve gotten through is new age, metaphysical poppycock provided by talking heads that seem to just want to make history up as they go along.
It is said during program that Lincoln signed bill of setting aside Sierra Nevada range by a talking head (I think it’s Carl Pope with Sierra Club) that Lincoln saved the land for his realizing the majestic beauty and for the destruction done by people moving west. Yet, Lincoln had never seen this land, the reports were sporadic at best (No cell phones at the time, remember) about any and all western movement and Lincoln was very preoccupied with the Civil War at the time. Yet this fellow portrayed the signing as nearly a religious experience.
This thing goes on and on by discarding parks made by a God and paints some other New Age phenomenon as the cause.
Burns should just worry about history and avoid at all costs commentary and politically correct nonsense. Where he has history, it is excellent. The excess blathering is not. Our parks are too important to treat them like this and getting Americans to experience the parks even more so.

Each time Glenn has a new book come out I’ve slipped it in the cartoon. Usually Jacob or Taylor is involved. This time they didn’t fit and Obama is on his own…well, with a whooooole lot os ACORNs again.
Nothing like having a President cheering you to the end…literally! AS much as I have my problems with Bush and his near refusal to admit problems, again Obama (Bush 3) takes that stand and inflates a million fold by actually cheering disaster. What a mess we’re in!
Lots of reference digging. I couldn’t find the ship I needed, so I cobbled together various aspects of ships to get a boat that I could put in coming at you and still read the gag that Obama was somewhere below deck. Involving Photoshop, I used a lot of layers to get the stormy, rainy feel.
I can’t believe this guy is STILL campaigning. He and his staff saw himself on the ropes. Their vacation was cooking up ways to bring the public back to him. So it’s back to the campaign trail. This is a classic political mistake that will fail as it has in the past. Typical of someone and their staff that don’t get politics and think this is a popularity contest. Knowing just the last couple decades of history would have dissuaded them from this move. Oh, well, another President to learn a lesson.
Taylor and Jacob return for a second week.
I’ve been missing pencils lately because I’ve been inking directly on the pencils. Since the medical incident in mid-August I’ve found myself with less time and not using a separate sheet to ink.
